GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ The Greenville County sheriff's office says a deputy was following proper procedures when he pursued a suspicious vehicle that wrecked, killing the driver. A deputy was pursuing a vehicle thought to contain a man who had been the object of a massive manhunt that prompted the lockdown of 10 schools on Oct. 28.

Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott announced that 45-year-old Mitchell Smith was arrested Monday morning and charged with neglect of a vulnerable adult and simple possession of marijuana.
