Clemson Crushes BC In Series Opener 15-6

Matthew Crownover pitched 6.0 scoreless innings and Clemson broke the game open with five runs in the seventh inning in its 15-6 victory over Boston College at Commander Shea Field on Friday afternoon. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 lead in the series, improved to 17-17 overall and 8-8 in the ACC. The Eagles dropped to 15-17 overall and 5-10 in ACC play.

Tigers Gear Up For Spring Game

Wednesday afternoon Clemson held its final full pads practice prior to Saturday’s annual Spring Football Game in Memorial Stadium. The contest that will be the 15th and final spring practice session will start at 2:30 p.m. and admission is free. A flag football game involving former Clemson players, known as the Clemson Sons Bowl, will start at noon.

Charleston Southern Beats Clemson 4-3

Nate Blanchard’s sacrifice fly in the 10th inning lifted Charleston Southern to a 4-3 win over Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The Buccaneers improved to 13-18, while the Tigers fell to 16-17.

Martin Ready For Second Masters

Former Clemson All-American Ben Martin will make his second career appearance in the Masters on Thursday, but it will be his first as a professional. Martin, a 2009 Clemson graduate who played the 2010 spring as a graduate, qualified for the 2010 Masters after finishing second at the 2009 U.S. Amateur.

Georgia Edges Clemson 3-2

Skyler Weber’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning gave Georgia the lead for good in its 3-2 victory over Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs improved to 19-15, while the Tigers fell to 16-16. The two teams will conclude the home-and-home season series in Athens on April 21.

Veteran Tigers Tough To Block In Scrimmage

Clemson held a physical, two-hour practice on Monday. The workout included a one-on-one hitting drill in period one and finished with an hour of scrimmage work in the indoor facility. Reed Rohlman scored from third base after an error in the 11th inning to give Clemson a 5-4 walkoff win over North Carolina at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday night. The Tigers, who took 2-0 lead in the series, improved to 16-14 overall and 7-7 in the ACC. The Tar Heels dropped to 17-13 overall and 6-8 in ACC play. Clemson Mourns Loss Of Bussey

Charlie Bussey, the first Academic All-American in any sport in Clemson athletics history and quarterback of Clemson’s first ACC Championship football team in 1956, died early Thursday morning at his home in Clemson, S.C. at the age of 80. Bussey had suffered in recent months from a lung disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Dabo Likes Tiger Defense At Scrimmage

Dabo Swinney said his defense was ahead of the offense during Clemson’s second stadium scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers worked for two hours and ran nearly 100 plays in perfect weather. It was the last full scrimmage until the Tigers hold their Spring Game on Saturday, April 11 at 2:30 pm in Memorial Stadium on the Clemson campus.

Presbyterian Edges Clemson 5-4

Glen Casaceli’s two-out single in the ninth inning scored Brandon Martin and Guy Casaceli to break a 3-3 tie in Presbyterian College’s 5-4 win over Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Wednesday night. The Blue Hose improved to 17-12, while the Tigers dropped to 14-14.

Wake Forest scored four runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning to pull away for a 7-3 victory over Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Johnson: "Great Honor" to Serve on CFP Committee

Behind an eight-run fifth inning and two four-run innings, Clemson defeated Western Carolina 19-2 at Hennon Stadium on Tuesday. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 lead in the home-and-home season series, improved to 12-11. The Catamounts dropped to 9-12.

Rooks To Transfer From Clemson

Patrick Rooks will transfer from Clemson, Head Coach Brad Brownell announced Monday. Rooks played in 13 games and scored 20 points in 2014-15 after redshirting his first season with the program due to a hip injury. Rooks’ biggest contribution came in a win over High Point on Nov. 28, when he scored 11 points in 12 minutes off the bench.

Clemson Football Gets Back To Work

Clemson returned to the practice fields Monday afternoon, the squad’s first workout in 12 days. The team scattered to sites around the country along with the rest of the Clemson student body for Spring Break a week ago last Friday. But, the team reported back for an evening meeting Sunday and was ready to go on Monday for the seventh team practice of the 15 Spring sessions.
