Statement Win: Clemson Stuns No. 3 Louisville Thursday

Clemson scored five runs in the first two innings and Zack Erwin struck out 11 batters in the Tigers’ 7-2 victory over No. 3 Louisville in the ACC Tournament at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Thursday. The Tigers, who upped their record to 1-1 in the tournament, improved to 32-26 on the season. The Cardinals, who fell to 1-1 in the tourney, dropped to 43-15 in 2015.

Clemson Names New Volleyball Assistant Coach

Nicole Miller has been named an assistant coach with the Clemson volleyball program, Head Coach Hugh Hernesman announced on Thursday. Miller joins Hugh, who was named the Tigers’ head coach in March, and his wife, Stephanie, who was previously added to the staff as an assistant coach, after spending one year at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Clemson/Louisville Baseball Delayed

First pitch for the NC State vs. Notre Dame game at the ACC Tournament in Durham is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for 11 a.m., but rain pushed the start time back. Clemson’s game, originally scheduled for 3 p.m., will start approximately 51 minutes after that game ends.

No. 2 USC Begins Play at NCAA Championships Friday

No. 2 South Carolina opens play in the 2015 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships on Friday, May 22, at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. After capturing their third NCAA East Regional title since 2010, the Gamecocks are one of 24 teams to advance to the NCAA Championships and will be making their sixth-straight appearance. South Carolina will be paired with No. 1 Southern California and No. 3 UCLA for the first two rounds of stroke play.

The Seminoles, who improved to 1-0 in the tournament, upped its record to 38-19. The Tigers, who fell to 0-1 in the tourney, dropped to 31-26 on the season.

Clemson Football Earns APR Kudos Again

The Clemson football program was honored Wednesday when the NCAA released its Academic Performance Public Recognition Awards. Dabo Swinney's Tigers rank among the top 10 percent of all FBS programs nationally in APR score (Academic Progress Rate), the fifth-consecutive year the program has had a top 10 percent ranking. Clemson’s women’s golf and diving programs joined football this year among the top 10 percent of their sports.

University of South Carolina sophomore center Alan Knott has been named to the Rimington Trophy’s 2015 Spring Watch List, the Rimington Trophy Committee announced today. The list includes 50 of the best centers in Division I football.

Clemson Golf In 3rd After Opening Regional Round

Billy Kennerly fired a five-under-par 67 on Thursday, the second best round in the field of 75 golfers, to lead Clemson to a 284 team score and a tie for third place after the first round of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional. The top five teams in the 13-team field after Saturday’s third round will advance to the NCAA Championship in Bradenton, Fla on May 29.
