Johnson: "Great Honor" to Serve on CFP Committee

Columbia native, Clemson graduate and former Furman and Vanderbilt Head Coach Bobby Johnson was selected to serve on the College Football Playoff committee Friday. He spoke to WCIV about the honor today.

USC Holds Sixth Spring Practice Thursday

The University of South Carolina football team worked out in helmets and shoulder pads for about two hours Thursday afternoon at the new practice fields. It was the squad’s sixth practice of the spring.

Clemson Clocks Western Carolina 19-2

Behind an eight-run fifth inning and two four-run innings, Clemson defeated Western Carolina 19-2 at Hennon Stadium on Tuesday. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 lead in the home-and-home season series, improved to 12-11. The Catamounts dropped to 9-12.

Rooks To Transfer From Clemson

Patrick Rooks will transfer from Clemson, Head Coach Brad Brownell announced Monday. Rooks played in 13 games and scored 20 points in 2014-15 after redshirting his first season with the program due to a hip injury. Rooks’ biggest contribution came in a win over High Point on Nov. 28, when he scored 11 points in 12 minutes off the bench.

Clemson Football Gets Back To Work

Clemson returned to the practice fields Monday afternoon, the squad’s first workout in 12 days. The team scattered to sites around the country along with the rest of the Clemson student body for Spring Break a week ago last Friday. But, the team reported back for an evening meeting Sunday and was ready to go on Monday for the seventh team practice of the 15 Spring sessions.

Clemson Misses Out On Va Tech Sweep

Rahiem Cooper’s one-out fielder’s choice in the 12th inning scored Kyle Wernicki for the walkoff run in Virginia Tech’s 4-3 victory over Clemson Tech at English Field on Sunday afternoon. The Hokies improved to 12-12 overall and 5-4 in the ACC. The Tigers, who won the series 2-1, fell to 11-11 overall and 4-5 in the ACC.

Okey Grand Slam Gets Clemson Win At Va Tech

Chris Okey’s grand slam with two outs in the 10th inning lifted Clemson to a 4-0 victory over Virginia Tech at English Field on Friday. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 lead in the series, improved to 10-10 overall and 3-4 in the ACC. The Hokies dropped to 11-11 overall and 4-3 in ACC play.

Littlejohn Renovation Clears Final Hurdle

Clemson Athletics received final approval Wednesday from the South Carolina Budget and Control Board to begin renovation of Littlejohn Coliseum. The Board approved the construction project and issuance of bonds for the project, which is slated to cost $63.5 million to be financed completely by the athletic department and IPTAY. The project previously received approval from the Clemson Board of Trustees and the Joint Bond Review Committee.
