Clemson Opens Season By Pounding PC 77-44

Milton Jennings produced a team-high 15 points to lead Clemson to a 77-44 victory over Presbyterian College at Littlejohn Coliseum in the season opener for both teams on Monday. The Tigers, who won their 28th consecutive season opener, played all 12 active players on their roster and received scoring contributions from 10 of them.

The two post players were among four in double figures for Brad Brownell's team, which opens the regular season a week from Monday against Presbyterian College.

Clemson Offense Gaining Confidence

Clemson coordinator Chad Morris sees his team's offensive confidence growing with every milestone it reaches this season. The 10th-ranked Tigers had their biggest offensive explosion since their national championship season 1981, piling up 720 yards in a 56-20 victory over Duke last Saturday. It was the team's sixth game with 500 yards or more this season, a program record.

Booker Suspended For Exhibition Game

Clemson senior forward Devin Booker has been suspended for the team's preseason exhibition game for violating team rules. The school announced the suspension Monday. Tigers coach Brad Brownell also suspended freshman Josh Smith for the contest with Lander.

Clemson Pair Gets ACC Weekly Honors

Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd and offensive lineman Brandon Thomas headline a list of nine players named as the Atlantic Coast Conference Football Players of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. Boyd tied the ACC record for touchdown responsibility with six, all in the first half, and Thomas helped the offense accumulate 718 yards for the 10th best offensive performance in conference history in the Tigers' 56-20 win over Duke.

Clemson moved up one spot in this week's new coaches' poll to #8. The Tigers are #10 in the new AP top 25. USC is #11 in the latest coaches' poll. The Gamecocks are #12 in the new AP top 25.
