True freshman Shaq Roland continues to impress the Head Ball Coach. “Shaq Roland has a knack for going up and getting it at the last moment," Steve Spurrier said after the team's first to two workouts Tuesday morning. "He has the ability to get it at the highest point.”

Clemson Two-A-Days Day #2

With just under three weeks to go before 14th-ranked Clemson kicks off the 2012 season against No. 25 Auburn in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, head coach Dabo Swinney says there is still a lot of work to be done. He and his Tigers tried to get a little bit better on Monday morning as they practiced for two-hours under the sun on the practice fields behind Jervey Gymnasium. It was the first of two practices for the Tigers on Monday.

Clemson Hoops Adds BYU Transfer

Damarcus Harrison has joined the Clemson men’s basketball program, Head Coach Brad Brownell announced Monday. Harrison appeared in 30 games as a freshman at Brigham Young University in 2011-12. NCAA rules require a men’s basketball transfer to serve a year in residence, but Clemson plans to file a waiver to allow him to compete immediately.

Tigers Conclude Week With Scrimmage

The scrimmage concluded Clemson’s first full week of preseason work. The Tigers will take Sunday off, then resume on Monday with a pair of workouts.

Pelion's Proveaux Wins SC Amateur

Pelion native Cody Proveaux, who will begin classes at Clemson in two weeks, won the South Carolina Amateur Golf Championship in near record fashion on Sunday. Proveaux shot a two under par 68 in the final round to finish with a 72-hole score of 267. His gross score was the second best ever in the 81-year history of the event.

Watkins Suspended As Tigers Begin Fall Camp

Clemson sophomore receiver Sammy Watkins has been suspended for the first two games of the 2012 season by Head Coach Dabo Swinney. The suspension is the result of his arrest this past May.

Watkins Named To Hornung Award Watch List

Clemson All-American receiver Sammy Watkins has been named to the Hornung Award Watch List for 2012. The honor is named after former Notre Dame Heisman Trophy (1956) winner Paul Hornung and is presented to the top all-purpose player in college football.

Former Gamecocks Going To Olympics

A pair of former South Carolina women’s basketball standouts will represent their countries in the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London. Ilona Burgrová, who played for the Gamecocks 2005-08, will represent the Czech Republic, while Iva Sliskovic, a 2004-07 letterwinner, will be part of the team from Croatia. Both are making their Olympic debuts and join Shannon Johnson (2004, United States) as the only Gamecock women’s basketball alumnae to participate in an Olympic Games.

Clemson Picked 2nd, Watkins Gets Top Honors

Clemson sophomore wide receiver Sammy Watkins (Fort Myers, Fla.), who set ACC single-season freshman records for receptions (82), reception yardage (1,219) and receiving touchdowns (12), was the choice for Preseason Player of the Year.
