The 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Hopkins starts Monday, June 19 from 2-7, at the Historic Harriet Barber House.
Today is the first time Juneteenth is getting its due. It’s observed Monday, since the holiday fell on a Sunday. Last year, it became a federal holiday at the last minute, on June 17, with little time for widespread celebration.
Juneteenth celebrations continued on Main Street this morning with the Juneteenth Freedom Festival Parade, which kicked off at 10 a.m. ABC Columbia’s Miya Payton was live there as many community members, groups and businesses came out to support.
