Lexington Co. coroner identifies person who died in a single-vehicle collision

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a single-vehicle collision that happened on Monday morning.

The collision happened around 7:12 a.m. on Monday, March 9, in the 400 block of Wagner Highway in the Leesville area of Lexington County.

According to Coroner Fisher, Jose Eduardo Sanchez Franco , 24, of Wagner was traveling southbound on Wagner Highway when he left the right side of the roadway, hit a ditch, utility pole, and tree.

Officials say Sanchez Franco attempted to exit the vehicle before it came to a stop and was run over by the trailer attached to the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained.

The passenger in the vehicle was uninjured.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
