Midlands woman accused of stealing thousands from vulnerable adult

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–A Gilbert woman is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from a vulnerable adult.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, between May of 2024 and July of last year Gina Carnaggio took advantage of her power-of-attorney status and used money from the victim’s account for her personal benefit.

Officials say she is charged with Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult and Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent.
Investigators say the victim was a resident at an assisted living facility in Lexington.

If convicted, officials say Carnaggio faces up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to $15,000 in fines.
