York man charged with attempted armed robbery following Winnsboro Food Lion incident

WINNSBORO, S.C. (WOLO)– A York man has been charged with attempted armed robbery in Fairfield County.

Deputies say on March 18, 19-year-old Trevor Demby and a girl entered a Food Lion in Winnsboro.

Investigators say Demby removed a handgun from his hoodie and placed it on the conveyor belt, pointing it in the direction of the cashier.

The cashier, who reported being stunned, did not respond before Demby retrieved the firearm and quickly exited the store with the girl.

Deputies located Demby and took him to the Fairfield County Detention Center.

The female suspect was a juvenile and was released to the custody of her parent.
