Redshirt sophomore Thomas Farr allowed just two hits in a five-inning start and the University of South Carolina baseball team belted out 12 hits in an 8-5 win over Clemson at Segra Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies.
The Class of 2020 inductees include former University of South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier, tight end Willie Scott and administrator Art Baker. SC State’s Robert Porcher and Clemson’s Charlie Waters will also be inducted.
Andrew Eyster had two hits to lead the Carolina offense, while Noah Campbell drove in three. On the mound, Brannon Jordan struck out nine and allowed just two hits and two runs in six innings of work.
Between the two games 10 different Gamecocks produced hits with Haley Simpson, Mackenzie Boesel, Kassidy Krupit and Lauren Stewart leading the charge. The Ochs and Heath combo in the circle held opposing batters to just seven hits in 14 innings of work.
Wes Clarke’s second home run of the game, a grand slam, happened in the sixth inning. The Gamecocks had 13 hits on the day, led by Clarke’s 3-for-4 performance.
Carmen Mlodzinski took the ball for the Gamecocks and had a great outing, striking out six and allowing just three hits and a run in seven innings of work.
After a 4-8 campaign, change was inevitable, and Coach Muschamp has aggressively addressed that in the off-season, revamping much of his coaching staff.
Wilson has spent the past three seasons with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs as an Assistant Special Teams Coach. This past season he was part of the staff that led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl title in 50 years.
Brannon Jordan made his first start as a Gamecock on the mound and earned the win, striking out nine and allowing just two hits with no walks in those five frames.
