Fort Jackson is offering a new program for Army recruits who don’t meet the testing or physical requirements to join the Army.

According to the US Army’s website, only about 23% of young Americans fully meet the Army’s eligibility requirements. Instead of lowering standards to join, Fort Jackson has a new program designed to meet recruits where they are and bring them up to the Army’s standards.

Monica Rivers is seeing who she calls her angel again, for the first time since her accident.

That angel, is ABC Columbia News anchor Curtis Wilson. “He means the world to me. Had it not been for him at that time, the angel that god sent to me. I know we all have angels. God has ones assigned to us. And if it was just for that moment on that date, Curtis Wilson was the angel assigned to Monica Rivers,” Rivers says.

New details on ambushed deputies at Carriage Oaks subdivision

At around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday August 3, deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department were met with gunfire after they responded to what turned out to be a false 9-1-1 call at the Carriage Oaks subdivision in Northeast Columbia.

School Resource Officers attend crisis intervention training

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department held its annual crisis intervention training for Richland County’s school resource officers. The annual event is sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health and certified through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
