COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ A measure suspending the authority of South Carolina's environmental agency to make dredging decisions is heading to the governor's desk. The joint resolution is designed to help lawmakers' efforts to undo a water quality permit granted by the Department of Health and Environment Control, which allows Georgia to expand the Savannah port.

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) _ More than 1,000 police officers and hundreds of others have paid their final respects to a South Carolina police officer shot and killed while responding to a call.

Suspect Named in Killing of Teen in Aiken County

NEW ELLENTON, S.C. (AP) _ Aiken County deputies say they have a suspect in the killing of a teen whose body was found buried in a shallow grave over the weekend. Deputies got a murder warrant Tuesday for 24-year-old Christopher Parker. Authorities say 18-year-old Huran Dix was shot over a stolen income check.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ A federal judge has ruled that a South Carolina company's lawsuit against a former employee over Twitter followers can go forward.

SC Chiropractor Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) _ A Lexington chiropractor has been sentenced to nine years in prison for inappropriately touching three female patients. Prosecutor Donnie Myers said Monday a judge sentenced 52-year-old Ronald Jeffrey Shows to a year and a half in prison on each of six counts of second degree assault and battery. He also was ordered to register as a sex offender.

SC Legislators Discuss New Voter ID Requirement

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ Plans to require better proof of citizenship to register to vote in South Carolina have won an early test in the Senate and opened the door to a new round of arguments about voting rights. A Senate Judiciary subcommittee on Thursday approved a bill that says citizenship proof can come from documents that include a driver's license, birth certificate, United States passport or tribal identification.
