Solicitor Dan Johnson said a judge sentenced Victor Smith to life in prison Thursday without parole. A jury convicted him of murder two weeks ago.

Aiken County Police Chief's Daughter Killed

WAGENER, S.C. (AP) _ Authorities say the police chief in Salley rushed to a car crash outside his jurisdiction after finding out his daughter might be involved. Investigators told The Aiken Standard that 20-year-old Lisa Bledsoe died in the fiery wreck after losing control on a rural road near Wagener around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday and smashing into a tree.
