C.J. Spiller's spirits are high even though the Buffalo Bills running back says it's too early to determine whether his surgically repaired collarbone will be healed before the end of the season.

Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley has been named one of 20 semifinalists for the 2014 Bednarik Award. The award is presented each year by the Maxwell Football Club of Philadelphia to the top defensive player in the nation. It is named in honor of former NFL Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik.

Former Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins has been named NFL Rookie of the Month for October. The NFL made the announcement on Friday. Watkins, the first member of the Buffalo Bills to earn NFL Rookie of the Month honors, led all rookies in receptions with 19 and reception yards with 366 in October. He tied for the lead in reception touchdowns among rookies with his former Clemson teammate Martavis Bryant of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney is one of 13 coaches included on the watch list for the 2014 Dodd Trophy, as announced by officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Friday.

Clemson punter Bradley Pinion has been named to the list of 2014 Ray Guy Award nominees. The announcement was made Friday by the Augusta Sports Council, which sponsors the award that is presented to the top punter in college football.

Clemson wide receiver Mike Williams has been added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. The honor is presented each year to the top receiver in college football.

Three Clemson football earned ACC weekly honors Monday for their standout performances in a 16-6 win against Syracuse over the weekend. Stephone Anthony, Ammon Lakip and Wayne Gallman added their names to the conference honor roll. Click to find out details.

Clemson linebacker Stephone Anthony is one of 15 semifinalists for the 2014 Dick Butkus Award. The honor goes to the top linebacker in college football each year. Anthony and Denzel Perryman of Miami are the only ACC players among the final 15.

Clemson kicker Ammon Lakip has been named a Groza Award Star of the Week by the Lou Groza Award Committee of Palm Beach, Fla. Each week the committee recognizes the top three kickers in the country. In addition to Lakip, Jaden Oberkrom of TCU and Matthew McCrane of Kansas State were also named.

Former Clemson standout Sammy Watkins caught a touchdown and former Gamecock Stephon Gilmore had an interception to help the Buffalo Bills beat the New York Jets 43-23 Sunday.

Cole Stoudt threw for 209 yards and a touchdown, Ammon Lakip had three field goals and No. 21 Clemson won its fifth straight with a 16-6 victory over Syracuse on Saturday night.

The Steelers rookie wide receiver made his first career NFL catch a 35-yard touchdown that sparked Pittsburgh to a 30-23 win over Houston. Texans rookie linebacker Jadeveon Clowney did not play in the game. The former Gamecock came into Monday Night questionable. Clowney is still recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery after tearing his meniscus six weeks ago. Another former Clemson receiver, Houston's Deandre Hopkins led all players with 108 receiving yards but had a critical fumble for the Texans late in the game.

Clemson's defense is grabbing the headlines for the 21st-ranked Tigers, and not for the points it allows in the team's biggest games. The group has given up just 30 points in the past three games for Clemson (5-2, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) and made game-saving stops the last two weeks to beat Louisville and Boston College.

Former Clemson All-American Ben Martin sank a 46-foot eagle putt on the par five 16th hole on Sunday and went on to win the Shriner’s Hospital For Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dabo Swinney said Sunday leading rusher Adam Choice will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL on a first quarter run against Boston College Saturday. The freshman from Thomasville, GA had 50 carries for 218 rushing yards and one touchdown on the season.

Former Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins caught a 2-yard touchdown with 1 second left to help Buffalo beat Minnesota Sunday 17-16. The rookie first round draft pick had 9 catches, 122 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on the game. Former Clemson running back C.J. Spiller was carted off the field in tears after injuring his left shoulder. He reportedly broke his collarbone and will miss the rest of the season.

Former Clemson standout defensive end Andre Branch injured his groin Sunday in the fourth quarter of Jacksonville's first win of the season, 24-6 over Cleveland. Branch left the game and did not return. After the game he left the locker room on crutches. No more details on the injury were available Sunday night.

Cody Proveaux shot a three-under-par 69, his eighth under-par round of the fall, and finished third individually to lead Clemson to a 10th place team finish at the U.S. Collegiate at the Golf Club of Georgia on Sunday. The Tigers improved from 14th to 10th with a 284 team score on Sunday, as three Tigers posted under par rounds.

C.J. Davidson ran for a 32-yard touchdown with 9:35 to play and No. 24 Clemson stopped a Boston College drive in the final minutes to beat the Eagles 17-13 on Saturday.

Clemson senior punter returner Adam Humphries is the ACC specialist of the week. Humphries had eight punt returns for 107 yards, including a 72-yard return for a touchdown in the Tigers’ 23-17 win over visiting Louisville.
