Mitchell McGeein’s two-out, infield single scored John Rubino in the 10th inning to lift Eastern Michigan to a 6-5 win over #13 Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday afternoon. The Tigers trailed 5-4 in the ninth inning before pinch-hitter Mike Dunster’s solo homer, the first long ball of his career, tied the score, but the Eagles emerged victorious in both team’s season-opener in front of 5,143 fans.

Clemson (15-8, 6-5 ACC) hosts #17 Virginia (20-5, 11-1 ACC) this Saturday at noon. The game will air on ESPN2. The Tigers will play five of their last seven regular season games at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Clemson baseball will open its season Friday afternoon against Eastern Michigan at 4 p.m.

Despite 30 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots from K.J. McDaniels, Clemson fell to Notre Dame in double overtime on Tuesday, 68-64 at Purcell Pavilion. McDaniels rallied his teammates from a seven-point deficit in the final minutes of regulation, and from a four-point deficit in the final minute of the first overtime period. But in the end, Notre Dame improved to 13-12, 4-8 in the ACC. The Tigers dropped to 15-8 overall, 6-5 in league play.

Clemson averaged 82,048 fans per game during the 2013 football season, a record for the program that has called Memorial Stadium home since 1942. The NCAA recently released official attendance statistics for the 2013 season.

Clemson recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach Jeff Scott has been named one of the top 25 recruiters in the nation by Rivals.com. It is the second time in three years Scott has been among the top 25 recruiters nationally according to the national website, as he also earned the honor in 2012.

Clemson basketball hits tournament pace early this season. After just one day of rest the Tigers take on Notre Dame Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in South Bend, IN. It's the first ever meeting between the Irish and Clemson on the basketball court.

C.J. Fair scored 19 points, Jerami Grant added 12 and No. 1 Syracuse beat Clemson 57-44 on Sunday night to remain unbeaten.

Following the announcement last week of the 2014 football schedule, the Clemson athletic department, in conjunction with the alumni association, student affairs, IPTAY, the Tiger Letterwinners association and a host of other campus groups, announced the game designations for Clemson’s home schedule this fall.

Up four with just 11 minutes to play, Clemson outscored VMI 32-6 the rest of the way in an 80-50 win over the Keydets at Littlejohn Coliseum on Monday. The Tigers finished the non-conference portion of the regular season with a 9-3 record. VMI dropped to 6-6 with the loss.

Clemson held its first practice in Miami, FL on Monday in preparation for Friday night’s Discover Orange Bowl game against sixth-ranked Ohio State. The Tigers and Buckeyes are meeting for just the second time, the first time since the 1978 Gator Bowl.

Junior righthander Daniel Gossett (Lyman, SC) was named a preseason Louisville Slugger Third-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball on Monday. Gossett was named a preseason third-team All-American by NCBWA earlier in December.

Clemson is ranked #21 in Collegiate Baseball’s 2014 preseason poll, released on Friday. Cal State Fullerton is atop the Collegiate Baseball poll, followed by #2 Mississippi State, #3 Louisiana State, #4 Oregon State, and #5 Florida State.

Clemson's Sammy Watkins has been named a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.

Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley has been named a first-team All-American by USA Today and receiver Sammy Watkins has been named to the second-team.
