Midlands’ strongest earthquake in 8 years shakes up the area

The strongest of these earthquakes shook the Midlands Sunday morning. The 3.4 magnitude earthquake was felt by many Elgin residents.

ELGIN, S.C. (WOLO) – The United States Geological Survey reports an earthquake near Elgin on Sunday. Official records say the quake happened at 2:27 p.m. just 3.3 miles east of Elgin. ELGIN, S.C. (WOLO) -United States Geological Survey reports an earthquake hit just outside of Elgin. According to the report, the earthquake happened Friday morning at 11:35 a.m. about 3.9 miles southeast of Elgin. The USGS says the quake measured at a 1.8 magnitude.
