The FBI Columbia field office is teaming up with six local HBCU’s to launch its first ever mentoring program. Mentors will provide professional guidance to their selected students by meeting with them at least once a month for the rest of the fall semester. Mentees are expected to initiate discussions with their mentor, seek feedback for areas of development, set goals, and ask for guidance regarding professional growth.
Benedict College has become the 1st HBCU in South Carolina to receive accreditation for its Environmental Engineering program. Clemson University is the only other school in the state to have this accreditation for its Environmental Engineering program.
Monday’s renaming of the luncheon to the Dr. Emily Clyburn Memorial Brunch coincided with the kickoff of the Clyburn Foundations fundraiser in collaboration with the eight HBCUs in South Carolina.

Next Tuesday, the first African American Poet Laureate of Charleston will be the keynote speaker of the Induction of Scholars into the Benedict College Honors Program.
