Gervais St. Bridge reopens following fatal 3-vehicle collision

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — According to the Columbia Police Department, the Gervais Street Bridge has reopened following a fatal three-vehicle collision around 8 p.m. on Saturday night. Officers say the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
The Richland Co. Coroner’s Office is assisting the Traffic Safety Unit with the collision.
Columbia PD reports that a male driver died as a result of his injuries, and a female passenger is in critical condition at a hospital.
The bridge remained closed for nearly two hours before its reopening.
No other serious injuries were reported.
