South Carolina has reported a total of 474,999 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, and 8,208 deaths. DHEC also reports a 3.7% positivity rate of the most recent tests taken. The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested a man who has been accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a person of interest who may have information about a deadly shooting that took place in Febraury 20. That day, deputies say they were called to a Resort Street residence for reports of a drive by shooting. Authorities say they shooting claimed the life of 43-year-old and injured a three-year-old.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control says there are more opportunities than ever to get vaccinated in the Midlands, starting with the Columbia Place Mall on Two Notch Road. This mass vaccination site is open for both walk-in and drive-thru shots, seven days a week.
Columbia police say a suspect is in custody after leading officers on a chase and barricading himself inside an apartment. Investigators say the suspect ran into an apartment at the intersection of Lester and Bailey Streets, but has since been taken into custody.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says they are looking for a missing man with a history of mental illness. Deputies say 44-year-old Danny Gibbs Jr. was last seen on April 8, and he has not been taking his medication.
