Boston, No. 1 Gamecocks win 20th straight 63-48 over LSU
Aliyah Boston had 13 points, nine rebounds and five blocks as No. 1 South Carolina held off pesky LSU 63-48 on Thursday night for its 20th straight victory.
The Tigers, who took a 2-0 lead in the series, improved to 6-0 on the season, while the Seawolves dropped to 1-5.
The Tigers never trailed and led by as many as 26 at Conte Forum. Five different Clemson players scored in double figures, and the Tigers defeated the Eagles 82-64.
Wes Clarke’s second home run of the game, a grand slam, happened in the sixth inning. The Gamecocks had 13 hits on the day, led by Clarke’s 3-for-4 performance.
Carolina falls to 8-6 in SEC play with only four regular-season games remaining.
The Tigers, who took a 1-0 series lead in the first-ever meeting between the two schools, improved to 5-0, while Stony Brook fell to 1-4.
Carmen Mlodzinski took the ball for the Gamecocks and had a great outing, striking out six and allowing just three hits and a run in seven innings of work.
