Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks head into the offseason after posting a 4-8 season and a loss to in-state rival Clemson.
Quarterback Jake Bentley announced on Twitter Monday morning that he will enter the transfer portal following graduation on Dec. 16th.
The program broke its 16-year postseason drought last season with a bid and made it to the second round before losing to regional host Minnesota. The Gamecocks are 5-8 all-time in the national tournament, advancing to the second round in five of eight trips.

After South Carolina’s 38-3 loss to Clemson, true freshman quarterback Ryan Hilinski approached senior offensive lineman Donell Stanley. He offered an apology for not getting Stanley one final win as a Gamecock, and then said, “Thanks for everything.”
Trevor Lawrence threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 3 Clemson to its 27th straight victory and second consecutive 12-0 regular season with a 38-3 victory over rival South Carolina on Saturday.
The Gamecock victory was built on defense, though, as South Carolina returned to its lock-down effort on that end of the court. Washington State scored just nine points each in the first and third quarters on combined 25.0 percent shooting.
It’s the third time in four seasons the Gamecocks have finished in at least the NCAA quarterfinals. South Carolina will graduate five seniors in Grace Fisk, Mikayla Krzeczowski, Elexa Bahr, Tatumn Milazzo and Rebecca Koch.
