The Gamecocks’ Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier spoke to the media yesterday at his weekly press conference; announcing the five new team appointed captains Shaq Wilson, D.J. Swearinger, T.J. Johnson, Justice Cunningham and Marcus Lattimore. Here are some of the things he had to say.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier expected star running back Marcus Lattimore back in the starting lineup this week against Tennessee.
Defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward hopes to have most of his unit back and ready to go for Saturday’s contest with the exception of Kelcy Quarles.
The winner Saturday doesn’t clinch a spot in the conference title game, but will have a stranglehold on the top with only a couple of games left to play.
Spurrier said Wednesday the discipline would probably involve missing game time. A video on YouTube shows Quarles punching LSU center P.J. Lonergan in the facemask after a first-quarter play in the Tigers’ 23-21 victory.
Coach Spurrier indicated that Kenny Miles and Mike Davis got all the reps at running back today with Lattimore out due to a bruised hip.
As part of its multi-year deal with Gamecock IMG College, Fox Sports has announced four University of South Carolina women’s basketball non-conference games will air on its networks this season. The addition of the non-conference games expands the Gamecocks’ television appearances to nine for the 2012-13 season, including three SEC games also on various Fox Sports networks.
South Carolina scored 21 unanswered point in the first half, all in the first quarter, to take a 21-0 lead into halftime against Georgia.
