SC House passes Health Agency Reform bill
A landmark Health Agency Reform Bill is one step closer to becoming law in South Carolina after passing in the House on Wednesday.
The South Carolina House gave key approval Tuesday to the state’s $13.2 billion spending plan, including raises for teachers and state employees, $500 million in property tax relief, $200 million for bridges and $100 million to continue long-term income tax cuts.

A bill to eliminate the state sales tax on feminine hygiene products has passed the South Carolina House.
Now, the legislature can meet as a conference committee to come to a compromise or simply let the bill die until next session.
Democratic Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter says that while lawmakers say the bill will protect unborn life, it will make many lives in the state worse.
While some medical experts are against proposed laws being discussed that would prohibit abortions, there are also those in healthcare that support the ban.
While Rep. John McCravy supports the proposed bill, some of his colleagues expressed their opposition.
Ultimately the suggested bill moves on to the judiciary committee after nine representatives voted for it.
Some were outraged at the states Fetal Heartbeat Bill, with others saying it’s not enough.
Both chambers passed an almost $14 billion budget which includes income tax cuts and almost a billion dollars on road improvement.
