The West Columbia Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man accused of illegally dumping used tires at a private address off Airport Boulevard.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control wants your help tracking the West Nile virus. Now through November 30, DHEC officials say if you find any dead birds, submit them to the department for testing. Specifically, DHEC says they are looking for dead crows, blue jays, house finches and house sparrows.
On Tuesday, Governor Henry McMaster announced that $6 million in the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) funds will go towards establishing eight community computer labs throughout the state. The governor says the funds were awarded to the University of South Carolina, who will partner with Benedict College to create these Apple computer labs.

Officials with Fort Jackson announced that they are conducting a prescribed burn of nearly 194 acres close to Leesburg Road, north of McCrady Training Center today. Officials say the burn began at about 10 a.m.
