Evacuations are underway on Hawaii’s big island and Maui as wildfires rage across both islands.
Meteorologist Andrew Kingston with DHEC’s Bureau of Air Quality says while a precautionary alert was issued yesterday for the northern half of South Carolina, the Midlands shouldn’t experience any issues going forward on the ground level because of a slight cold front that moved through last night.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission says low humidity in addition to high winds that are expected Tuesday and Wednesday of this week could create the perfect conditions for outdoor burns to quickly become wildfires.
The explosive wildfire near Yosemite National Park in California continue to rage and are spreading quickly. Some families being forced to evacuate as the flames are far from contained.
There is a statewide Red Flag Fire Alert in effect this weekend. That means the South Carolina Forestry Commission is urging you not to do any outdoor burning.

According to State Forester Gene Kodama, the ban statewide is due to weather conditions associated with an approaching cold front that presents an elevated risk of wildfire.
