Voters across the Midlands lined up again today to cast their ballots for the 2020 presidential election. With lines wrapped around the Lexington County Administration Building, more than one million South Carolinians have already cast their ballots in the 2020 General Election.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested a man in connection with a shooting that left 23-year-old Tyvon Dickey dead. Deputies say the shooting took place on October 16 at a motel in the 10000 block of Lynches River Road.
Oprah Winfrey announced plans to host a series of town halls in key states leading up to Election Day. Thursday night, she will address voters in the Palmetto State. These town halls are a part of Oprah’s “OWN THE VOTE” initiative to encourage and support voters across the country.

According to the South Carolina State Election Commission, 1,013,000 South Carolinians have returned their absentee ballots for the 2020 election so far. This more than doubles the previous record for absentee voting when 503,000 absentee votes were cast in the 2016 General Election.
Sumter County Coroner Robert M. Baker says a man has died after a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Liberty Street and South Guignard Drive around 7:43 p.m.
On Wednesday, the Trump administration announced that the United States Department of Agriculture is investing $9.5 million for rural community facilities in South Carolina. This comes as part of the USDA’s $871 million investment to improve community facilities in 43 states across the country and Guam.
