Thousands of Clemson TIgers fans showed up at Death Valley Sunday afternoon for Clemson's annual Fan Appreciation Day.

Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as the Tigers wrapped up their third and final stadium scrimmage of fall camp in Death Valley.

The South Carolina Gamecocks have been ranked no. 9 in the Associated Press' preseason Top 25 poll.

Clemson reported 10 NCAA secondary violations including two that involved female athletes who received prize money for outside competitions while enrolled in school.

Clemson will hold its annual Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, August 19 at Clemson Memorial Stadium. All Clemson players and Coach Swinney will be available for autographs beginning at 3:00 p.m. The session will last for two hours.

Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney says there is no separation right now at left guard or right tackle, but he is pleased with the progress David Beasley and Shaq Anthony have made on the offensive line.

The Tigers are coming off a season in which their defense ranked 71st in the country in total defense. Clemson's defense also allowed 30 points per game.

Jacoby Ford is glad he got a clunker of a game out of the way in the preseason. The former Clemson standout had a rather forgettable exhibition opener for the Oakland Raiders. He dropped two passes, was unable to break up an interception on a deep ball from Carson Palmer and muffed a punt for Oakland (tied for No. 23 in the AP Pro32) in a 3-0 loss to Dallas on Monday night.

Sports Illustrated's college football preview hits the newsstands Wednesday. Clemson comes in ranked #14. Senior writer Austin Murphy previewed the Tigers and names Carlos Watkins as their key recruit and Travis Blanks as their breakout player for the 2012 season.

The Clemson defense forced six interceptions, while safety Rashard Hall recorded three during the Tigers’ situational scrimmage at Memorial Stadium Wednesday morning.

Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris says the coaching staff is turning up the heat on the players after Tuesday's preseason practice. Morris says everyone on offense should feel a little uneasy because no one’s job is safe. “It needs to be,” he said. “This isn’t happiness camp. Some of these guys get this in their mind that this could be happiness camp and it’s not that. We are coming out here and we are pushing these guys. We are driving these guys and straining them."

With just under three weeks to go before 14th-ranked Clemson kicks off the 2012 season against No. 25 Auburn in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, head coach Dabo Swinney says there is still a lot of work to be done. He and his Tigers tried to get a little bit better on Monday morning as they practiced for two-hours under the sun on the practice fields behind Jervey Gymnasium. It was the first of two practices for the Tigers on Monday.

Damarcus Harrison has joined the Clemson men’s basketball program, Head Coach Brad Brownell announced Monday. Harrison appeared in 30 games as a freshman at Brigham Young University in 2011-12. NCAA rules require a men’s basketball transfer to serve a year in residence, but Clemson plans to file a waiver to allow him to compete immediately.

The scrimmage concluded Clemson’s first full week of preseason work. The Tigers will take Sunday off, then resume on Monday with a pair of workouts.

The bad news for the Clemson Tigers Thursday was that weather moved them indoors for nearly the entire two-and-half hour practice. The good news, they still got a lot of work done.
