Officers pack groceries for Greg’s Groceries
The holiday season is here and law enforcement agencies from across the Carolinas are doing their part to make sure everyone has food on the table.

“This has always been an event that’s been open to anyone. We have folks that drive as far away as Orangeburg, Saluda, and other areas. Year-to-year we know that around 20 different zip codes are part of this event,” says Sgt. Cameron Mortenson with the Lexington PD.
With the help of law enforcement agencies from across the state, Serve & Connect packed more than 3,000 boxes at Tuesday’s event at the Forest Acres Walmart.
She decided to create the non-profit Serve and Connect, which works to build relationships between police officers and citizens.
SLED agents are taking part in Greg’s Groceries food box packing event Friday, May 5.
The Lexington Police Department and Serve and Connect held the fifth annual “Bountiful Harvest” community event next to the Icehouse Amphitheatre in Lexington.
Serve and Connect along with South Carolina law enforcement agencies are working to feed hundreds of families throughout the state.
Nearly three dozen law enforcement agencies across the state came together to pack more than 1,600 food boxes for their communities this morning. It’s all part of the Greg’s Groceries program to honor the late Forest Acres Police Officer Greg Alia who died in the line of duty six years ago today.
More groceries will soon reach the tables of needy families in the midlands. Today “Serve and connect” received a $75,000 donation from AT&T to expand it’s food donation program, “Greg’s Groceries.”
