Lexington PD, Serve & Connect host Bountiful Harvest to help feed those in need

Law enforcement from across the state are hoping to strengthen their bond with the communities they serve through food. This morning, SLED, Chief Mark Keel and members of several law enforcement agencies announced a partnership with Columbia based Serve & Connect to expand the efforts of the Greg’s Groceries program.
On Tuesday, the non-profit Serve & Connect along with Columbia Police and Richland County deputies handed out turkeys and Thanksgiving produce on Sunset Drive.
The local nonprofit, Serve & Connect, is partnering with law enforcement agencies in five Midlands counties to deliver Thanksgiving meals and produce to hundreds of families this year.
More groceries will soon reach the tables of needy families in the midlands. Today “Serve and connect” received a $75,000 donation from AT&T to expand it’s food donation program, “Greg’s Groceries.”
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–A local organization is raising money to support the wife and son of a fallen Sumter County Deputy. Serve and Connect had raised more than $35,000 as of Friday morning to help the family of Corporal Andrew Gillette. Gillette was shot and killed in the line of duty Tuesday morning. Corporal Gillette will be laid to rest Sunday. …

Winkeler was shot and killed during a traffic stop Sunday while working as an officer at the Florence Regional Airport.
