Senate scheduled to vote on stimulus package Wednesday

The pandemic has left millions of Americans struggling to make ends meet, and although no stimulus deal has been reached, lawmakers are working on it. Although there is bickering on the Senate floor, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are making progress, and the White House is backing the idea of a larger package.

Two charged in conspiracy to steal personal protective equipment from Federal Law Enforcement Training Center

According to U.S. Attorney Peter M. McCoy Jr., two individuals have been charged in federal court for conspiring to steal personal protective equipment from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston. Authorities say Frank Smail, Jr., 49, and Mike Pellegrini, 58, who both worked at the FLETC, have been charged in the conspiracy. Authorities say Smail also faces charges of PPE theft, obstruction of justice, and lying to federal agents.

Nancy Pelosi extends stimulus package deadline

Tuesday was the self-imposed deadline given by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to wrap up negotiations on a nearly $2 trillion pandemic relief bill. While she was scheduled to give the final decision earlier this afternoon, she is now allowing both sides more time to continue negotiations.
