Copper Thieves: Take This!

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ A South Carolina measure meant to discourage thieves from gutting air conditioning units and farm irrigation systems to resell the copper has been signed into law.

Jobless Rate Increases

South Carolina unemployment went up slightly in May, re-establishing double-digit jobless numbers. The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce said Friday that the May jobless rate was 10 percent, up from 9.8 percent in April.
