Three Tigers Taken On Final Draft Day

Three current Tigers and one Clemson signee were chosen on the final day of the Major League Baseball draft Wednesday. Junior righthander Brody Koerner (Concord, N.C.) was selected in the 17th round (No. 513 overall pick) by the New York Yankees, junior righty Clate Schmidt (Acworth, Ga.) was picked in the 32nd round (No. 951 overall) by the Boston Red Sox and sophomore Eli White (Easley, S.C.) was chosen in the 37th round (No. 1117 overall) by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

4 Tigers Taken On MLB Draft Day Two

Four current Tigers and one Clemson signee were selected on the second day of the Major League Baseball draft Tuesday. Junior lefthander Zack Erwin (Duluth, Ga.) and junior infielder Tyler Krieger (Johns Creek, Ga.) were both picked in the fourth round, while junior outfielder Steven Duggar (Moore, S.C.) and junior lefty Matthew Crownover (Ringgold, Ga.) were both chosen in the sixth round. Clemson's four top-10-round selections tied for sixth most among Division I schools.

Three Former Tigers In U.S. Open Field

Former Clemson golfer Sam Saunders had consecutive rounds of six-under-par 66 at the United States Open Sectional Qualifier in Columbus, Ohio on Monday and will play in the 2015 United States Open in two weeks at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. Saunders will be joined by former Clemson golfers Ben Martin and Lucas Glover, who were already exempted into the prestigious professional major.
