Rodriguez Wins Orange Bowl Courage Award

Clemson’s Daniel Rodriguez is the winner of the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award, as selected by a panel of FWAA members. Rodriguez, a redshirt freshman receiver from Stafford, Va., is playing for the Tigers after being awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star in Afghanistan.

Former coach Lou Holtz given South Carolina degree

Holtz coached the Gamecocks for six seasons from 1999-2004. He had the only winless season of his career while at South Carolina, going 0-11 in 1999 before the team rebounded with a 17-7 record and win consecutive Outback Bowls the next two years.

Spiller Rushes For Over 1000 Yards

Former Clemson running back C.J. Spiller went over the 1000-yard mark for the season for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Spiller is the first former Clemson running back to gain at least 1000 yards in a season at the NFL level since Terry Allen did it for the Washington Redskins in 1996.

Sophomore forward K.J. McDaniels led Clemson with 16 points and seven boards. Sophomore guard Rod Hall registered 15 and senior center Devin Booker scored 13 and tallied a game-high eight rebounds in the contest. Clemson scored 23 points off of 19 Gamecock turnovers.

Boyd & Freeman Named First-Team All-Americans

This is just the third time since the AFCA began selecting an All-America team in 1945 that the quarterback and center were from the same team. Clemson was one of four schools with at least two selections. Alabama had three, while Clemson, Texas A&M and Stanford had two apiece.

ACC Votes To Add Louisville In 2014

In a statement Wednesday, league Commissioner John Swofford said the addition of Louisville along with Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse in the past year has made the league stronger.
