Tigers Officially Name Four Team Captains

Much of the talk after Clemson’s fourth bowl practice on Tuesday concerned players old and young. Head Coach Dabo Swinney announced his permanent captains for the 2014 season, and had his first day of “extra” practice for his younger players.

Clemson Soccer Finishes Ranked 11th

The Clemson men’s soccer team was ranked 11th in the final poll released by the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) on Tuesday afternoon. It is the Tigers’ highest ranking in the final national poll since 2005, when the team was ranked in a tie for third after reaching the NCAA Final Four.

Beasley Makes AP All-American First Team

Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press on Tuesday. This is the second of the five major All-America teams to be released. Earlier Beasley was a first-team selection by the Walter Camp Foundation.

Scott Named Freshman All-American

Clemson freshman receiver Artavis Scott has been named a first-team Freshman All-American by ESPN.com and 247 Sports.

Clemson Defeats Auburn 72-61

Damarcus Harrison and Rod Hall combined for 39 points in a 72-61 win over Auburn on Sunday in front of 7,140 fans in Littlejohn Coliseum.

Clemson defensive players Vic Beasley, Grady Jarrett, Garry Peters and Stephone Anthony all were named first-team All-ACC by the ACC Football Coaches on Wednesday.

Clemson Edges Arkansas In OT

Down six with less than a minute to play, Clemson scored the game’s final six points to force overtime and eventually pulled away for a 68-65 win over No. 18 ranked Arkansas on Sunday. The win improved the Tigers to 5-3 on the season, while dropping the Razorbacks to 6-2 overall.

Clemson Names Co-Offensive Coordinators

Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney announced today that Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott will serve as co-Offensive Coordinators on his staff starting immediately. Chad Morris, Clemson’s offensive coordinator the last four seasons, was announced Monday as the head coach at SMU.

McCorvey To Receive AFCA Award

Woody McCorvey, a widely recognized assistant coach, is this year’s recipient of the AFCA Outstanding Achievement Award. The AFCA Board of Trustees created the Outstanding Achievement Award in order to recognize AFCA members, past and present, who have achieved outstanding success while coaching football.

Rutgers Wins At Clemson 69-64

The Tigers went over five minutes without a field goal inside the final six minutes Monday in a 69-64 loss to Rutgers in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The loss dropped Clemson to 4-3 overall and improved the Scarlet Knights to the same record.

Morris Officially Accepts SMU Job

Chad Morris, Clemson offensive coordinator the last four years, has been named Head Football Coach at Southern Methodist University. Morris had been in charge of the Clemson offense since 2011 and helped the program to a 41-11 record, including 27 wins against ACC opposition. The Clemson offense established 127 school records during his time with the program, 89 individual marks and 38 team records.

Clemson Tight End To Miss Bowl Game

Clemson reserve tight end Stanton Seckinger suffered a knee injury to a PCL in the South Carolina game last Saturday. The injury will require surgery and he will not play in Clemson’s bowl game.

Three Tigers Earn 1st Team All-ACC Honors

Clemson defensive players Vic Beasley, Grady Jarrett and Stephone Anthony all were named first-team All-ACC according by the ACC Sports Media Association on Monday. It is the first time since 2010 that Clemson has had three first-team selections on the defensive side of the ball.

Two Tigers Earn ACC Weekly Honors

Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley and offensive tackle Kalon Davis were both honored for their respective performances in the Tigers 35-17 victory over South Carolina last Saturday. Beasley was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week and Davis was named co Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for a franchise-record six touchdowns and former Clemson standout DeAndre Hopkins had a career-best 238 yards receiving and two scores as the Houston Texans set a team-record for points, rolling to a 45-21 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Tar Heels Take Out Tigers In Sweet 16

The Clemson men’s soccer team saw its season come to a close at the hands of North Carolina by a score of 2-1 in the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night at Historic Riggs Field. Tonight’s loss is Clemson’s first since October 7, the Tigers were on a 10 match unbeaten streak coming into tonight’s contest. Clemson finishes the season with a record of 12-7-3.
