Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks will likely be the frontrunners to win this year's National Championship, but they'll get a big test this February.

The University of South Carolina Athletics Department has received approval from the South Carolina Department of Commerce and is excited to welcome Gamecock fans to Colonial Life Arena for men's and women's basketball games this season.

Hinz is the second Gamecock to earn the SEC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season, following up Sutton Jones' honor last week. Hinz is now tied for the SEC lead with two clean sheets this season and is second in the SEC with a goals agaisnt average of 0.78.

South Carolina has won each of the last three contests between the two schools to even the all-time series at eight wins each. Each of the last five games, dating back to 2003, and 13 of the 16 meetings overall, have been decided by seven points or less.

A Gamecock freshman out of AC Flora High School left the program this week, the school confirmed to ABC Columbia on Wednesday night.

Kroeger, a 6-3, 195-pounder from Lake Forest, Ill., has punted 17 times this season for a 42.2-yard average. He has placed five of his 17 punts inside the 20 and three have traveled 50 yards or more.

Jaycee Horn was named the co-SEC Defensive Player of the Week, while punter Kai Kroeger was selected as the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week, the Southeastern Conference office announced Monday.

Horn is the fifth South Carolina player to earn Walter Camp National FBS Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the first since Israel Mukuamu in 2019.

The SEC is adjusting its football schedule following the postponement of two games originally scheduled for October 17 due to positive tests and quarantine of individuals related to COVID-19.
