Gamecocks suffer SEC-opening sweep to Georgia

Georgia scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to complete a three-game sweep of the University of South Carolina baseball team with a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon (March 17) at Founders Park.

Gamecocks drop series to Georgia

The University of South Carolina baseball team jumped out to a 5-1 lead on Saturday afternoon, but Georgia scored four in the fourth and two in the fifth to take the lead for good in an 8-7 win over the Gamecocks to clinch a series win.

Georgia's Emerson Hancock struck out 12 in seven innings and the Bulldogs put up four runs in the sixth inning to take the series opener with the University of South Carolina baseball team, 6-1, Friday night (March 15) at Founders Park.

The Gamecock baseball team jumped out to a 9-1 lead over The Citadel Tuesday night (March 12) in Charleston, but the Bulldogs battled back to a run before senior Gage Hinson came in for a four-save and preserved a 10-9 win over the Bulldogs for its fourth win in a row.

Gamecock beach volleyball shocks No. 2 Southern Cal Tuesday

South Carolina beach volleyball added an impressive win to its resume on Tuesday, taking down second-ranked Southern California (11-2) and Florida Gulf Coast (2-3) as part of the Georgia State Day of Duals event. The Gamecocks (7-5) are just the third team from the east region to ever take down the Trojans, and it's the highest ranked opponent South Carolina has ever beaten.

Chris Silva earns SEC honor

Gamecock forward Chris Silva has been named the SEC Co-Player of the Week after averaging 23 points and 13.5 rebounds in two Gamecock wins last week. The award is the first weekly honor of Silva's career. Arkansas' Daniel Gafford was also named the Co-Player of the Week. 

Hopkins hits for cycle, Gamecocks sweep Valpo

Senior TJ Hopkins hit for the cycle, classmate Jacob Olson had two home runs and five RBI, redshirt freshman Ian Jenkins had three hits and freshman Brett Kerry struck out six in a five-plus inning start as the No. 24 University of South Carolina baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Valparaiso with a 12-6 win Sunday afternoon.
