Gamecocks picked by media to finish second in SEC

A panel of both SEC and national media members picked South Carolina to finish second in the 2019 Southeastern Conference women’s basketball standings. It marks the first time in five seasons that the Gamecocks have not topped the preseason media voting. The media also selected senior forward Alexis Jennings as a Preseason All-SEC selection.

Kickoff announced for Carolina-Tennessee

When the Gamecocks return from their off week, they will host Tennessee in their first home night game of 2018, kicking off against the Volunteers at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 27.

Gamecocks end in 0-0 draw against No. 12 Vanderbilt

No. 9 South Carolina women's soccer (11-2-1, 5-1-1 SEC) ended in a draw 0-0 for the first time this season against No. 12 Vanderbilt (13-1-1, 6-0-1 SEC) on Friday night. In the tie, junior goalkeeper Mikayla Krzeczowski tied the SEC record for career shutouts at 33. 

Michael Scarnecchia defends Jake Bentley's performances this season

This week, Will Muschamp announced Jake Bentley as the starter for this Saturday's game against No. 22 Texas A&M (if he's healthy after a knee sprain sidelined him against Missouri). Backup Michael Scarnecchia was brilliant in Carolina's 37-35 win, which caused a little more talk about a "quarterback competition".

UNC coach Roy Williams "dumbfounded" after NCAA shuts down USC-UNC hurricane relief game

North Carolina and South Carolina agreed to a proposed exhibition basketball game with proceeds going directly to the victims of Hurricane Florence that ravaged both states, but the NCAA shot the proposal down.The two squads had already agreed to the exhibition game in Charlotte, but the NCAA disallowed it. On Tuesday, UNC coach Roy Williams blasted the NCAA.

Jake Bentley expected to start vs. Texas A&M

USC football coach Will Muschamp confirmed Tuesday that Jake Bentley will get the start against No. 22 Texas A&M this Saturday if Bentley is healthy enough to play.

White, Horn Honored by SEC

Following Carolina's 37-35 win over Missouri on Saturday, both Jaycee Horn and Parker White were received weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference.
