COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ Several Occupy Columbia protesters arrested last week for refusing to leave the Statehouse grounds sued South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and state public safety officials on Wednesday, saying their First Amendment rights were trampled when they were arrested for demonstrating on public property.

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) _ Lexington County deputies have arrested a man they say broke into a home and took items while a 17-year-old girl hid inside. Deputies said Tuesday 56-year-old Richard O'Neil Hatchell of Leesville faces several charges, including first-degree burglary and failure to stop for a blue light.
