The rides and attractions at the South Carolina State Fair were a little more quiet this morning. The fair had "sensory-friendly" hours from 10 a.m. to noon for children and adults with sensory processing disorders. Lights and music were off on most rides, keeping sights and sounds of the fair as low as possible.
Today is National Coming Out Day -- a day to honor the LGBTQ+ community. The designation started in 1988 as a way to encourage people to live as their true selves and come out to family, friends, and coworkers.
โThis route is literally the central nervous system of the state of South Carolina for tourism, commerce and commuters," said Rick Todd, South Carolina Trucking Association president.ย
The historic home on the corner of Gervais Street and Pickens Street in downtown Columbia will soon have new tenants. The home is currently being renovated into six apartments and coffee shop by Mashburn Construction.
