This morning, LGBTQ advocates gathered at the State House to mark Transgender Day of Visibility, a day to honor and celebrate transgender people nationwide. It comes as South Carolina lawmakers push several bills many are calling anti-LGBTQ.
The Racial Justice Network is calling for an independent investigation into an officer involved shooting death of a man in Richland County this month. The group spoke out this morning, saying deputies should have deescalated the situation.
“You’re not a number. Your professors are there for you. The opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities is very important," said Phyllis Thompson, NACDRAO executive secretary.
More than 400 volunteers helped out in Air Safe which takes several months to prepare for. The exercise simulated a van colliding with an aircraft on the runway.
According to the South Carolina Department of Revenue, a Richland County tax preparer has been charged with 20 counts of willfully making or assisting in false or fraudulent state tax returns.
